  1. 10x16 Gambrel

Posted by Tarby on 25th Aug 2017

The shed is good. It serves its purpose. Problem: the gambrel style is extremely tall... Why would someone require such a tall shed? For tall items. With over a 12' height, why would 7' doors be applied to this? This major problem caused so much aggravation in attempts to move my tall items into the storage I paid $4100 to erect. Secondly, the carpenter assigned flaked the first two days, and milked out 4 days to build. I was told the shed would be erected in 4-6 hours and complete. This ruined my scheduling for storage of items and destroyed my profit margin for last summers business. Due to the lack of motivation and quality work, the shed served a sub par alleviation to my problems and probably cost more than they were worth. The shed is quality, but I could have hired a much better carpenter for the job. It left me with an overall sour taste of your company's reputation and steered me away from my additionally new purchase and erection of my 20x10 shed I had put up this year by another competitor vs. continuing business with you. The carpenter made me feel like his problems were more important than the job he was assigned to complete for me, and literally had the audacity to question "why I was in such a rush while he was the one working." It did not occur to him that I did not decide to move in the path of carpentry for a living, but rather decided to move forward in construction management, housing many pieces of equipment (some that gained more than unnecessary rust due to his lack of work ethic and communication towards his promised schedule {your company's promised schedule}) and then I took a major hit in costs that were difficult to recover over the course of the remaining fiscal year. I know laborers are difficult to control and we can't be there to tell them what and what not to say, but there are some things basic average people know what to say and what not to say. Overall, the shed, if built properly, probably would have brought my business back for an additional 6-10k worth of work, but due to my experience with the carpenter and result of quality due to his output on life, I would never buy another item to be constructed on my property again. I never bothered calling to comment because the whole process was already time consuming enough, and had caused me so many problems and headaches, but receiving this email, I feel that whoever runs this company should know how their product is being represented. As a business owner I understand value in the complete product from every aspect of its delivery, and although you may carry a quality product, keep in mind that this represents probably 60% of the business delivered to each customer. Many other factors contribute to the success of a 100% client satisfaction guarantee. If anything, without the assumed uncontroable problems delivered to me by the carpenter, the only downfall I see in the product is the short doors. Bump them up to 10' for much greater customer satisfaction. As far as the micro managing, well, you're going to figure that out so you can get repeat business and marketing at no cost through word of mouth. Unfortunately for your business, I gave at least 30 subs that work for me my opinion on my experience and told them to spread the word. It's not against your business, but it's the fact that I feel pick pocketed for $4k. Wouldn't you?

  2. Very satisfied with purchase

Posted by Backyard Buildings Customer (did not leave a name) on 25th Aug 2017

Though I had to call the office to get a few little things straightened out (clipping nails protruding primarily) the building has proven to be a good investment and lots of utility.

  3. Very worthwhile!

Posted by Paul D on 9th Aug 2017

I love my shed. Made very solid. From the outside, looks like a little cottage. Inside is plain rough, but that is expected. Let me talk about the extra options. I bought most of the options available and nobody else talked about that. So I will.

First, the 3 point locking system comes with upgraded doors. So, I think it is very worth it.

I got the ridge vent. I think it is probably worthwhile. But, it isn't a house and doesn't have house soffet vents. So the ridge vent isn't as required. Even so, probably worth it.

Got the Armor package with upgraded floor, roofing felt, drip edge. Again, I think it is worthwhile. Very solid floor.

I bought several shelves and a large bench. I agree they are REAL solid, made from 2x4's and plywood. But, very rough structural plywood. And not easily movable as they are nailed in place. And, now that I am putting stuff in the shed, I now wish the shelves were in a different location. Thus, if I was to do it again, I think I would not buy the shelves, benches and do my own. But, I agree it they are sold.

I got two windows that make it really look like a cottage from the outside. They are simple single-pane windows, but I think worthwhile.

I even got the fake shutters. On one hand, guess what, they are cute. But, they are cheap plastic. Worth about $5, not $40. They are cute but overpriced.

Got the wood ramp. I'd say it is okay value but if I was building it myself I might build it slightly different. I don't hate the ramp, it is okay. But, if I was doing again, I'd not buy and build myself.

There is nothing I bought that I hate. But, I think maybe a few of the extras I would have been better doing myself.

    The building itself? GREAT!

Oh, one more thing. The installer did a great job. But, he asked why I didn't buy the concrete blocks to put it on. He said that the home improvement store is supposed to suggest that when I buy it. I said I didn't buy from a home improvement store, I bought it from his company's website and it doesn't say anything about buying concrete blocks to put it on! So, he said, well, I guess the website should. But he kept talking to me as if I bought it at a home improvement store and how they should have told me about the blocks. I kept telling him I didn't buy it from no store.

Ultimately he said that my yard is fairly flat and it will be fine with wood shims to level it. And, indeed I think it is fine. But, I guess you should consider if you need concrete blocks or not

  4. Great Shed, Abymal Customer Service

Posted by Jerry Wessel on 27th Nov 2016

Installers were terrific. The schedulers were absolutely the worst bunch of liars I've ever encountered. Calling customer service is nearly useless.

  5. Satisfied customer

Posted by Bill Doty, Saline, Michigan on 25th Nov 2016

I am very satisfied with the timeliness of the installation, the installation itself and the end product. I would definitely recommend Backyard Buildings to anyone, and would use them again if I ever needed another product of theirs.

  6. Nice shed

Posted by Backyard Buildings and More Customer (customer did not leave name) on 3rd Aug 2016

I am very happy with the quality of the material and installation of this shed. I was not really happy with the fact that I could not move the door a foot or so from their plan, but I worked it out OK anyway. Also I didn't want a floor because I have it on a slab anyway, but because my slab was not level by about 3 inches. So I got a floor and had to build a ramp that I didn't need otherwise..

  7. Great Shed, Abymal Customer Service

Posted by Gerald WSessel on 28th Jul 2016

Even though the sheds construction and construction crew were superb, I would never deal with this company again. The schedulers constantly postpone construction. Customer service rarely keeps their word and never returns your phone calls.G

  8. Best Building

Posted by Robert on 27th Jul 2016

We Love our 10x16 Sentry storage building, this was our second purchase, that's how much we love it. Plenty of space for items we need to store in it and still have plenty of room to move around. Having the shelf on the far wall is great. it's perfect for little items and tools that i can get to quickly if needed. We Love how it matchs the house with the vinyl siding and the roof shingles.Thank you Back yard buildings for this fantastic building, building it on site and making sure i was satisfied after the build. Their will be a third building in our future to put at our second home.

  9. Good Experience

Posted by James Jessop on 28th Dec 2015

    TREATED VERY WELL

  10. Perfect

Posted by Craig Goble-Garratt on 26th Oct 2015

Product met or exceeded every expectation I had. The timing, communication and delivery was all top notch. Onsite was explained and met every timeline set. Final product was top drawer. I cannot find any fault. I only wish I had done this years sooner.
