How Our Shed Installation Service Works

Here at Backyard Buildings and More, we’re driven by a deep-held dedication to your complete satisfaction. That’s why, after over 40 years of industry-leading success, we continue to install sheds in backyards across America. We employ a team of skilled installers who are fully licensed, bonded, and insured. This way, you can count on the very best outcome, every single time. The sheds built on site installation process is simple – for your convenience. Here is what to expect:

Step 1 - Place Order

1 Place Your Order Online

Order on our website or call one of our customer service representatives. After you place an order, expect to receive a call within 3 business days (Monday – Friday) from your local branch to schedule your installation.

Step 2 - Builder Arrives

2 Builder Arrives

Your professional shed installer will call the morning of delivery to provide you a time of arrival of either (8:00am – noon) or (noon – 4:00 pm) delivery. Upon arrival, the installer will go over your work order and review the build site before beginning to unload your shed kit.

Step 3 - Construction Begins

3 Construction Begins

The builder will bring all needed materials to the installation site. Our buildings are not prefabricated, we build sheds right in your own backyard. Fenced yards are not a problem as long as you have a 3ft. gate with clear access to the build site.

We require at least 3ft. of clearance around and above the building site (4 feet if your building is larger than 160 sq. ft.) This gives your installer room needed for ladders and standing the walls. We will also need access to electricity within 150 feet of the unit.
Step 4 - Floor Construction

4 Assemble the Base

Our standard floor construction starts with treated 4x4 runners which are leveled to the ground. Treated 2x4 floor joists are assembled on the 4x4 runners. Note: Prior to the installation, your site must be level within 6in. (Front left, back to front). Once you determine the 4 corners of the shed, pound wood stakes into the ground, add a string and using a line level determine how much excavation is needed.

Step 5 - Decking Installed

5 Build the Decking

Next, the installer attaches durable 5/8" thick exterior OSB decking. We also offer a Pro-Grade Heavy-Duty Treated Floor Upgrade (35% stronger!), which is ideal for storing big, heavy items such as ATV’s, motorcycles, snowmobiles and more.

Step 6 - Shed Walls Installed

6 Attach Walls

Next, the walls are assembled and attached to the floor.

Step 7 - Roof Installed

7 Install Shingles

After installing roof rafters and decking, the shed is ready for shingles. All sheds include 25-year asphalt 3-tab shingles with your choice of 5 popular colors. Drip edge, architectural shingles and roof felt is an available upgrade.

Step 8 - Hardware Is Attached

8 Attach Hardware

Doors, hardware, trim and any additional accessories are attached to complete the installation.
