WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Does the cost of your buildings include shingles?
Yes, standard asphalt shingles are free with any shed or gazebo purchase. You can upgrade to architectural shingles.
Can I choose the color of shingles for my building?
Absolutely, we have 5 popular colors to choose from; white, dark brown, light brown, driftwood and black.
Is there any additional assembly costs for our shed kits?
No, the price of our shed kits includes professional, on-site construction by a Backyard Buildings and More certified installer.
Do the shed kits come fully assembled?
No, we install shed kits on site.
How long does it take to get my building delivered?
We pride ourselves on our quick delivery times. Our typical lead time is 4-8 weeks (weather permitting) from the time you place your order. Install times may vary during peak and promotional times. Our local office will contact you within 3 business days to schedule an install date.
How long does it take to build a shed?
Although there are exceptions, the majority of our buildings are built within one day. If you're purchasing a 12' wide or larger building, please allow 2 to 3 days for completion.
Do you make custom sized sheds?
No, we do not.
Is there an extra cost for installing accessories?
The price is included with the cost of the accessory.
What is your standard warranty?
In short, simply the best. Backyard Buildings and More has been constructing buildings nationwide for more than 35 years. Our storage buildings come with a 2, 5, 7 or 10-year top-to-bottom, worry-free limited warranty. If your building needs to be repaired, please give us a call.
What size and style of a building is right for me?
Most people run out of floor space before wall space, so one method of determining what size you might need is to measure all of the big, bulky items (i.e. lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc.) that will likely be put on the floor of your shed...dont forget to add some extra space to walk around these items. One of the common comments we hear from customers is "I wish I had bought a larger shed"...so when in doubt, we always suggest going up one size from what you think you need. This also gives you some room to grow!
What about covenant restrictions or permits?
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the building is permitted in the intended location. We strongly recommend verifying your installation by contacting your Home Owners Association and the local Building Department. If stamped drawings, schematics or additional information is necessary, please give us a call, we’re here to help. Depending on the specific requirements, additional charges may apply.
What types of standard building materials do you use
Backyard Buildings and More products are meant to last, therefore we use many of the same building materials used to construct your home: 40 year treated 4x4 runners Stud grade wall framing materials (2x3 on Value Series and 2x4 on all other Series) 5/8" OSB floor decking with 40 year treated floor joists 16" on center 7/16 OSB roof sheathing 25 year A-grade asphalt shingles Smartside Engineered wood siding is treated to resist insects and fungal decay
Can you paint my shed for me?
Some of our offices do paint sheds per customers request. However, the paint option is not available for purchase online at this time. The standard cost is $4.25 per sq. ft. To determine your servicing branch in your area, visit our locations page.
What kind of paint should I use for my floor?
Use an exterior porch and floor paint. If you plan on storing powered equipment inside your shed use garage floor paint.
What payment options do you provide?
Payment is in full with a major credit card. Currently we do not offer any financing options at this time. Your purchase is 100% protected; we have professional installers who will walk you through the building upon it's completion, and your building is covered top to bottom with our worry-free warranty. In addition, your payment must be paid prior to the installation.
Can I make a purchase online?
Absolutely! All of our sheds, solar sheds/greenhouses, gazebos, and playsets are available on-line. If you wish to purchase now, follow the prompts until your order is completed. One of our associates will call you within 3 business days to schedule your installation.
What should I do to prepare the site prior to your arrival?
Not much. We do require the construction area to be cleared and prepared to within 6" of level (front left, back to front), that we have at least 3' of clearance around and above the building site (4 feet if your building is larger than 160 sq. ft.). We also ask you place four stakes in the ground where you want the four corners of your building and a fifth stake where you would like the center of the door opening. We will also need access to electricity within 150 feet of the unit and unobstructed access to carry your materials to the building site. We will take care of the rest!
Can you help me with my foundation?
Of course, feel free to give us a call at 1-855-853-8558 or visit our blog about shed foundations.
Can our shed be installed on piers, etc?
Yes, but we do not recommend it. We suggest that all sheds be built on concrete slabs and using solid cement blocks.
After I make a purchase online, how long until it can be installed?
Shed installation times vary depending on promotional or seasonal periods. Typically, it's 2-3 weeks.
Do I need to be home during the shed installation?
It is not necessary to be present for every phase of the construction process. We do ask however that you are initially available to show our shed installer the proper placement of your building and are also available upon completion to do a walk through inspection with our installer.
What kind of paint do you recommend for my storage building?
We recommend a premium quality, 100% acrylic latex paint. This paint is easy to work with and is offered at your local hardware or paint store. Don't forget to caulk all horizontal seams before painting for a well protected, professionally finished result.
When will I get a call to schedule a date to install my shed?
72 business hours after your order is placed.
I have an existing concrete slab, can you build on it?
Although the vast majority of our buildings are constructed on our wood floor system and sufficient for any application, we do have the ability to construct your Backyard Buildings and More building on an existing slab provided the slab is level within 1/2" and appropriately sized. Because of the individual nature of each slab, please contact us to determine if your slab meets our specifications. Due to the additional installation labor and extra materials needed to properly secure the shed to your slab, there is no reduction in overall price.
Can my shed be moved after installation?
In most cases, depending on the size of the unit and the distance required, your building can be moved. Please keep in mind that each Backyard Buildings and More shed is hand crafted on your lot and moving the building will void your warranty. That is why we request your presence at the beginning of the construction phase, to ensure you choose the proper location for your building the first and hopefully last time.
You've built my storage building; I love it, but I want more options now.
We offer a wide array of options and accessories and can customize each building to adequately meet your needs. When placing your order with one of our sales associates, please be sure to communicate your needs and intended use, they'll ensure you get the appropriate accessories. If for some reason you feel that an additional accessory or option is needed at a later date, please give us a call and we'll be glad to quote you an installed price.
